For maximum flexibility and so that sessions are tailored to your individual needs, they will usually be 1-2-1 hypnobirthing classes rather than in a group.
Experience shows us that for most people a series of 4 x 90 minute sessions will be required. However if you have specific issues such as severe anxiety, morning sickness, baby bonding or would like extra help with breast feeding or turning a breech baby, then extra sessions are available.
You’ll received personalised mp3 downloads or CD’s to accompany the course so that you can continue building your confidence between sessions.
If you’d like to start sessions early in your pregnancy, then you’ll reap all of the benefits sooner but if you won’t have the time to listen to recordings and practise the techniques between sessions, until later, then that’s fine too. However late you might choose to start, the time spent learning to relax is time well spent.
Sessions are aimed primarily at empowering the mother with everything she needs to feel in control and confident throughout her pregnancy and delivery. At the same time a birthing partner can play a very valuable role in supporting the mother.
Whether you come independently or with your partner is entirely up to you. Some partners come for all sessions, some for a few and some none at all. It’s not essential for partners to join in for our Confident Childbirth sessions.
Some partners gain a lot from joining the sessions in learning how to support and contribute to the birth. If your partner has their own fears about their ability to cope then they’re welcome to have a session or two alone if necessary.
